How long does a windshield replacement take?
A standard windshield replacement typically takes 60 to 90 minutes. After installation, most vehicles require a 1-hour drive-away time to allow the urethane adhesive to cure sufficiently for safe driving, though full cure takes 24 hours.
When is it safe to drive after a windshield replacement?
Give it at least an hour before you drive. For the first 24 hours, skip the car wash, go easy on sustained highway speed on the Marsha Sharp or I-27, and ask everybody to close the doors like adults. Slamming one builds pressure inside the cabin and pushes against glass that has not finished bonding.
Should I choose OEM or aftermarket glass?
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) glass is made to the exact specifications of your vehicle and is the best choice for newer vehicles, those with ADAS cameras, or vehicles still under warranty. Aftermarket glass meets safety standards and is a cost-effective option for older vehicles. We'll help you choose the right option for your situation.
Will my ADAS safety features still work after replacement?
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and rain sensors, are often mounted to or calibrated through the windshield. After replacement, these systems typically require recalibration. We perform ADAS recalibration as part of the replacement process on equipped vehicles.
Does insurance cover windshield replacement in Texas?
Windshield replacement is covered under comprehensive auto insurance, subject to your deductible. Texas does not mandate zero-deductible glass coverage, so your out-of-pocket cost depends on your policy. Contact your insurer for details. Many will work directly with us on your claim.
